Mel D’Souza currently oversees SILO Entertainment Inc., a content development and rights holding company based in Vancouver, Canada. SILO primarily focuses on identifying and developing film & TV properties, targeted for a global viewing audience. Before SILO, D’Souza was an Executive Producer for the Indian feature film BOOM. He has held the position of Director, Business Development South Asia, with Channel [V] India - part of News Corps, Star TV Network in Asia. And before Ch [V], he held the position of VP, International Business Development with IN Media International, the Hinduja Groups Media & Technology development company, with offices in NYC, London and Bombay. With over 25 years in the media & entertainment industry,and both North American and international experience, D’Souza is a graduate from the award winning, Asia Pacific Management Program - a post-graduate business program at the McRae Institute of International Management, Capilano University. D’Souza is a noted documentary producer, with six documentary credits to his name and an accomplished photojournalist with published photo-essays in numerous dailies and periodicals throughout North America and Asia.
He is a Founding Member of SAFF Canada and currently sits on nextMedia’s Advisory Board and DOXA’s Advisory Board. He previously was part of BC Film?s Asian Advisory Board, The Asia Factual Forum’s Advisory Board and was appointed as a Special Advisor to The Weinstein Company for all acquisitions and co-productions in India. He has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences and events around the world, for his insights and expertise on international co-productions and his in-depth knowledge of India.
