Emily Carr Promo
This video shows the viewer that Vancouver is a combination of beauty and urbanity. Throughout, the viewer is taken on a journey that explores Vancouver, in addition to the work of the students and faculty at Emily Carr.
The following techniques are used throughout the video.
- Text on screen. Here images are overlaid with the poetic words of Roy Kiyooka. The technique will be used throughout, especially at the beginning and for interstitial transitions.
- Atmospheric music helps to set the time and place for the video.
- Filmic
Techniques like the splitting of the screen, time-lapse, speeding and slowing down of shots are used to give the video an abstract feel.
Visual inspiration and editorial pacing for the video is drawn heavily from Koyaanisqatsi, the 1982 documentary directed Godfrey Reggio, produced by Francis Ford Coppola.
